Amy Shuckburgh
Amy Shuckburgh has produced another exciting collection of original artwork for exhibition at Picture. Following the success of her show with the gallery last year, 26 new landscapes, as well as figurative and still life works, have arrived at the gallery and will be framed in two different styles, available from mid-May 2022.
Amy’s bold use of soft pastels conveys her confident feel for colour. She often works en plein air, as well as developing larger works back at her studio. Amy’s new collection sees a return to some of her favourite places: the Cornish coast, the pretty villages of the Ile de Re in France, as well as the woods, hills and rivers around her home in Somerset.
She has been praised for the honesty and immediacy of her depictions of motherhood and her series celebrating the maternal relationship – some of which are included in this collection – won her the Heatherley’s Award for Drawing in 2019. Amy is also known for her portraiture. Her large-scale drawing of the late playwright Harold Pinter, done from sittings just before his death, is owned by Pinter’s widow, Antonia Fraser, and now hangs permanently at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London.
‘I love Amy Shuckburgh’s work. She has a lyrical sense of colour, which coupled with her evident passion for the landscape, make this show instantly engaging,’
Lady Antonia Fraser
