My name is Saratu Ishaya Audu. I was born in Lagos Nigeria on 5 April 1964. I came to the UK when I was 10, with my parents.
I was a family lawyer for 25 years who took a break from complex cross jurisdictional & ancillary relief matters in 2018. I have since made a career move from law to art & now run a home gallery & attend Morley college for life & metal sculpture, & WM college for glass.
My work is known for my use of vivid colours, metaphysical undertones & story telling style.
My painting ‘running to myself’ speaks to a dark place I was in when I felt abandoned by everyone due to mental illness. I ran to myself, & transformed my life from hell to heaven. I found myself, & art. I started painting in Jan 2020 & painted all through lockdown whilst meditating. I used pink yellow & lime green as they are my happy colours.
