Gary Tennant is a Lancashire based artist, who was born and grew up in the small town of Horwich. After travelling and living around the UK, USA and Australia he has settled back in his home town. His artwork explores and celebrates visual responses of experiences of the natural surroundings, currently mainly landscape based themes through a variety of artistic mediums. The work a lot of the times takes on a dramatic theme of representing the natural landscape around him whether real or imaginary. This is sometimes done out in the environment (plein air) or back in the studio working from past experiences, reference material or exploiting the artistic medium itself such as oil and coldwax. He gained a Degree with honours in Art and Design in 1994 specialising in Printmaking, Painting and Design, a PGCE in teaching in 2000 and has since then has worked commercially as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. More recently returning to a love and obsession of practicing a more personal art.
