Lee Stannard was born in London and now lives in Brighton. His powers of observation and skill at depicting complicated detail was noted early on. He graduated in Graphics/Illustration at Kingston university, where he developed his distinctive style, blurring the lines between commercial and fine art. After a successful career principally as an illustrator (notable for many book covers and 10 years working for The Observer), he now focuses on his own work, exhibiting and selling regularly (collectors inc: Richard Branson, Ronnie Scott and Cartier).
