Carla – part of the Picture team – has two pictures in this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (10 June – 18 August 2013) http://www.royalacademy.org.uk/exhibitions/summer/ Beautiful charcoal drawings of trees – one large scale and the other a smaller version. As Carla says “drawing with charcoal on such a large scale is a very physical process, whilst the smaller drawing of the same tree is more contained and in compressed charcoal. Both works are part of an ongoing series based on the photographs of Eugene Atget who photographed Paris and France around the turn of the century. This tree comes from a photograph taken in Parc de Saint-Cloud on the outskirts of Paris, and I always do several works from the same photo varying both scale and medium”. http://www.re-title.com/artists/carla-groppi.asp
